With the help of generous friends who also love this region and believe in our mission to strengthen and support it, the Northland Foundation will continue to be a vital resource long into the future.

Insurance Policy Beneficiary

You can make the Northland Foundation the beneficiary of a life insurance policy, including an agreement to have the Foundation pay the premiums. You may also choose to donate annually to the Foundation, in the amount of the premium, and take a charitable deduction on your tax return in the current tax year.

Please speak with a financial advisor or reach out to the Northland Foundation for guidance on this type of gift. To talk about your interests, ideas, and philanthropic goals, please contact us.

Retirement Assets

IRAs or other retirement benefit plans are among the most highly taxed assets. Naming the Northland Foundation as beneficiary of the remainder of your retirement assets after your lifetime means your gift will not be subject to income and estate taxes.

We would appreciate knowing that you wish to include the Northland Foundation in your estate plan, so that we can thank you. Please contact us to let us know of your intention. You may also want to be acknowledged as a Legacy Friend of the Northland (see below).

Wills & Bequests

A general bequest in your will defers a gift until after your lifetime. To make a general bequest in your will, you might use one of the following wording options:

“I hereby give to Northland Foundation ___ percent (___%) of my residuary estate to be used for the charitable purposes of the Northland Foundation.”

“I hereby give to Northland Foundation ___ dollars ($___ ) to be used for the charitable purposes of the Northland Foundation.”
