The Northland Foundation offers programming and supports focused on improving the well-being of children, youth, families, older adults, and rural communities in our rural region.

Together with community partners, we work to help ensure people of all ages can have a strong sense of belonging and social connections, access to local resources and supports such as high-quality child care, youth development and out-of-school time activities, and opportunities to volunteer. Building on relationships, effective strategies, and learning, our portfolio of programs focuses on the following areas.

Early Childhood Care & Education

The Northland Foundation provides funding, programs, learning opportunities, and more to help families, child care providers, educators, and other professionals serving children and families. Browse our Programs & Supports pages to learn about:

Youth Development

For over 30 years, the Northland Foundation has been working with incredible partners to create enriching out-of-school-time opportunities for children and youth in our rural region.

Among them is our own Youth In Philanthropy Program which give 7th-12th grade students leadership and board service experience as they award grant funding that, in turn, supports local children-and-youth led projects.

Intergenerational & Aging

The Northland Foundation has long supported programs and initiatives that engage and lift up our region’s older adults, children and youth, and the generations in between.

This work has aimed to help communities access critical resources, explore new avenues, and “connect the dots” to nurture well-being for people of all ages. Our AGE to age program is a cornerstone of our intergenerational and aging efforts.
