Identify several complexities families face that prevent successful communication. Learn how to professionally communicate with families, while being compassionate and understanding. Examine best practices and strategies for dealing with difficult conversations. Create a plan and be prepared for your next difficult conversation.

Supporting family engagement is considered a hallmark of high-quality early childhood programs and is emphasized as a part of developmentally appropriate practice. To be responsive to our programs and families, we also need to be more knowledgeable and aware of how to also engage our communities in supporting our programs and families. Participants will assess their current level of engagement, examine strategies and draft a plan for developing and strengthening engagement of their families and communities.

Join your fellow child care providers from all across the region for a day of learning, sharing ideas, breakfast and lunch, free books and educational materials, and prize drawings. Everyone who enters their Develop number when they register can receive 4 training hours. This year's speakers are:

Sara Langworthy, Ph.D., presents Bridging the Relationship Gap: Becoming an Ally for Children Facing Adversity. In this presentation, Sara will share scientific research and practical strategies from her award-winning book Bridging the Relationship Gap. Sara will address approaches for working one-on-one with children to build resilience and self-regulation skills, and share promising organizational practices that shape child care environments to promote student learning and success.

Sarah Fritsch presents Circle Time Fun, sharing positive ways to support children’s social and emotional developmentĀ  Getting stumped on what to do at Circle Time? Join us for this fun workshop and find out the many learning opportunities Circle Time can create. Participants will come away with new songs, finger plays, and activities to do with a multi-aged group of children. There will also be time to share your great ideas with fellow caregivers.
