AGE to age: bringing the generations together

Age to age logoAGE to age: bringing the generations together is the newest member of the KIDS PLUS family. Launched in fall 2008, this exciting initiative enables elders, adults, and youth to explore how their generations are alike and how they are different. The program is designed to strengthen relationships among all ages and offer older adults and young people a chance to work together to benefit their communities.

Through a guided planning process, older and younger community members are given an equal voice in identifying a local need and devising their own grassroots solution. In addition, representatives from all AGE to age sites meet regularly to share ideas and learn from one another. Each of nine sites has developed its own strategic action plan that joins the generations in projects to improve their communities. They will carry out their action plans over a three-year period with signifcant support from funding partners.

Nine AGE to age sites have been established: Bois Forte Reservation, Chisholm, Cloquet, Floodwood, Fond du Lac Reservation, Itasca Area, McGregor, Moose Lake, and Proctor. Grand Portage Reservation is the tenth community identified to participate in AGE to age.
