Areas of Interest
The fabric of a thriving region is rich in texture and comprised of many individual threads. Economic opportunity and security. Stable families and the support they need to be healthy. A nurturing environment for children. Respect and care for elders, and inclusion of all people. When carefully woven together, each thread helps create a pattern that is seamless and strong.
The Northland Foundation provides resources to programs that value children and families and help the next generation develop into responsible, caring adults; provide individuals and families with the tools to become self-reliant through economic and social justice; and encourage older adults to share their vitality and wisdom.
Tax-exempt nonprofits located in or serving the seven-county Arrowhead Region may apply for grant funding. In order to be considered, projects must address one of the following three priority areas.
- Connecting Kids and Communities/Strengthening Families
- Opportunities for Self-Reliance
- Aging with Independence
From October 2009 through September 2011, the Northland Foundation is engaged in a special nonprofit capacity-building effort, the Strengthening Communities Initiative, which is being funded primarily through a federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act grant.
