The 3rd annual Reflective Practice Training will feature presenter Anne Gearity, Ph.D. Building upon past trainings, Dr. Gearity will address the context for understanding mutual regulation as a bridge to self-regulation. She will discuss the need for adults to imagine and be attuned to what is going on within the child’s mind. She will share with us how to use our own minds to achieve this awareness of children. Dr. Gearity will also reveal how critical reflection is in this process. Dr. Gearity is the author of Developmental Repair: A Training Manual, focused on an Intensive Treatment Model for working with young children who have experienced complex trauma and present aggressive and disruptive symptoms. |

Parents are invited to attend a powerful back-to-school presentation about the differences between how boys and girls learn, presented by Kathy Stevens of the Gurian Institute, who co-authored the book, The Minds of Boys. Boys account for up to 70% of failing grades and 80% of the children diagnosed with ADD and ADHD. Girls outperform boys across the board in verbal skills, but often when they hit middle school their math performance takes a dive. Why is that? Scientific advances in the past couple of decades allow us to look inside the brains of males and females and see where actual biological differences occur.
