It is a new reality. Foundation endowment losses, competition for donor dollars, budget cuts and layoffs, and increased demand for services have created a perfect storm for nonprofits, and we're not out of choppy waters yet.
Based on overwhelming feedback from the first Charting a Course event, held last January, the Northland Foundation with support from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota Foundation invite executive staff and board members to a second nonprofit dialogue.
You are encouraged to pre-register and complete a brief online survey at your earliest convenience. This session is free of charge, but space is limited.
Presenters
Peter Hutchinson, president of the Bush Foundation, will open with a keynote address that paints a picture of the current state of philanthropy in Minnesota.
Kathy Keeley will explore the three strategic directions available to proactive nonprofits: retooling operations; collaboration – from partnering to merger; and closing down successfully. She will debunk myths and clarify the challenges and opportunities that each option, whether pursued by choice or necessity, presents.
Following lunch, Kathy Keeley and a Panel of Nonprofit Leaders will engage in conversation on how their organizations have adapted – shifts in organizational focus, a merger, and a thoughtfully planned closure – and what it took on a staff, board, and personal level to manage the changes.
